Having a module in backwards would not cause heating it would subtract 14.4 volts from the battery voltage and the module pair voltage giving a reading of zero for that module pair along with immediate fault codes and red lights. Removing a module would loose 7.2 volts putting it in backwards would remove another 7.2 volts.
The most likely cause would be a corroded or loose bus bar nut.

Well, shamefully I found that I didn't reconnect the blower motor, so maybe that's hopefully most if not all of my problem.

Congrats on finding it. Keep us posted and let us know if that fixes it. I've got one that's throwing the battery code sometimes but there is only .2V difference between min and max block voltage. Wondering if I've got a bad connection somewhere.

Are you testing statically or under load?

That's what it was... drove 20 miles and running fine.

Last time I had red triangle keep popping up it was because I had a loose 12v ground to wall of car... have you checked 12v battery connections?

    BAD.

    Different resistances.

This story adds to the pile: People who try to save money by buying less expensive but crappy solutions come out way behind. For anyone counting, he has now spent ~ $1200 and a lot of time and hassle for 9 months of car use. Instead of paying $2000 for a simple DIY install 9 months ago good for the remaining life of the car.

Problem was and still is, that I didn't and still don't have $2000 all at once.

When it happens next time I will fix it myself again, but during this time period, I do plan on saving up for either a lie mileage used or a Dorman remanufactured.

not everyone has or feels its worth investing 2,000 in a 8 year old car (or older) I have two Pri and when the battery packs fail I will try to rebuild them myself with salvage cells and if that fails Ill just sell them as parts..why speand 2 or 3 grand when the car isn't worth 4?

If you still have module you have removed I suggest you try re-hydrating them as in my post on re hydration. If they have not been damaged by reverse charging of one cell you may not need to buy any more modules.

Then take out a loan, even from a credit card. It will be a much smarter move than any other car alternative.

If your credit is so trashed that no type of loan is available -- well, you screwed one lender too many.

If the car is a Prius that has otherwise been taken care of, spending $2000 for years and years of battery worry free driving is a no brainer.

If you doubt me, go to the used car lots and see what $2000 will buy you.

Because you are confusing apples and oranges.

$4,000 may be what a used car lot will pay for your car (if that, since the battery is toast.)
You should be asking yourself what it will cost to replace the Prius you have.

Or answer this question: how much would your Prius sell for on a used car lot after a brand new battery had been installed ?

I would love to try that. What is the difficult level of doing this and how long does it take post cell?

Could you make a video of the process? I am always able to pick up things by watching videos rather than reading.. gives me better confidence for some reason.

My module melted around the terminal, so no good.

I am pretty sure it melted because I foolishly drove it around over a week after the code popped to the discount beer store a couple blocks away.

I would probably get a cheap Accord or something thing instead if I had $1500 - $2000, but again don't have the
Getting a loan is never a smart idea so I wouldn't do that even if I had a way to get one, which I also do not have.

If I had 2k I'd be paying my probation fees off right now.
