---- Hi. I have a Toyota Prius 2005 gen2 and I have a cooling problem. I get the red triangle warning on temp. But I can change gear to B and spin up the engine and then to temp go down. I have a OBD and this happens now quite often, but I just put gear in B and spin up engine and then temp go down. There is no leaking and I have only heat in cabin sometimes if I spin up engine long time enough. What is going on? ( PS: I probably wrote this in wrong part of forum and will paste same in another part. Please remove if it is wrong here.) Regards from Sweden ----
I still get a red triangle warning and over heat in display. Before I drive i burp the cooling system on air. I then can drive and get heat in cabin for some miles. Then heat to cabin go away. I then accelerate and then get heat again. Then cold air so again I accelerate to get heat again. Then I need to stop and burp the system on air and sometimes need to fill it up with cooling water. I have changed water pump but that was not the problem. I changed the thermostat and a temp sensor on the cooler. When I accelerate all yellow warning signs light up now. But when I burp the cooling system on air, I get heat in cabin and all yellow warning signs go away. What is the problem ? Regards Magnus
It sounds like you are losing coolant while driving. If it is not leaking the head gasket might have failed, letting coolant into the combustion chamber. Look for white smoke from the exhaust pipe. Get the cooling system pressure tested to see if it holds pressure. The other possibility is an air bubble in the cooling system but that is not likely on this engine.
I have now replaced my engine but it do not run for long. It start and then just stop. Anyone know why? MagI ......
------- I replaced my engine and when loading my trunk battory I get the engine to start just some seconds then it shut off. But I can drive on the battery. When I drive, the engine do not start, to load the battery. I get the code: P0A3F Anyone know what to do? Regards MagI -------------------------
My first thought would be to look up the Diagnostic Trouble Code Chart for that code and then follow the Inspection Procedure and see where that ends up. That code points to a problem with the position sensor circuit of position sensor circuit "A"; more specifically it has detected an interphase short in motor resolver circuit. The trouble areas are: Wire harness or connector Hybrid vehicle motor HV control ECU I hope this helps
Did you remove the transmission when you replaced the engine? First thing to do is inspect the connections and wiring for the trans. Don't drive or try starting too often (until you find and correct the problem). Unless you have a way to charge the HV battery, it will discharge through use and then you will be stuck. ----- They did not connect the camshaft sensor. It now start but is rattling some times. Toyota say I need to replace the camshaft sensor. Is there any video that show how to do that? Cant seem to find one good enough for me to see how to. The engine I got have been laying on a storage for some years. Anything else I should check or clean, if a engine been some years on storage?
