! Warning light came on checked and it indicates fault in the regenerative braking system or breaking control system. it does coincide with intermittent operation of cruise control. any ideas what this might be?

It is a light that tells you when there are trouble codes waiting to be read, which will tell you about some issue with the car.

If you do not have a scan tool ready at hand that is able to read those, then simply do it this way. Once you post what the trouble codes are, we can help more:

I'm actually in the process of looking for a scan tool that will show the appropriate regenerative codes for a reasonable cost.
Any recommendations? I've been looking at an ancel td700

There are gobs of threads here about softwares to enter the 21 to God knows how many computers are on these cars If you get it wrong you get partial reading of codes can't get into other systems etc or you wind up with two scanners one will read some or the other will read the rest etc It's a lot of game playing and fooling around which by now should have been done enough by everybody else so you should be able to just reap that information Good luck It is a ride

There is a thread reviewing some of those options. It's oriented toward Gen 2, but tools that show up well there are probably not bad choices for a Gen 3.

But I would suggest, as you have brake warning lights now, get the brake trouble codes first, then think about getting a scan tool for later.

You do not need a scan tool to get the brake trouble codes. Just follow the steps in this thread:

Code gathering time .. however you do it . If they say no codes they're not doing it right if the light is still on and not supposed to make it go off you just want to read the codes and leave them alone initially and report back or?. That's the next move here not to clear the codes without reading them but read the codes Google them report back learn what they mean etc. Attempt to repairs what have you then you clear the codes.

Why did you start this third thread for the same problem?

Please check the advice you received in your other two threads.
