Was trying to find into on front sway bar swaps and almost everyone is saying the subframe has to be dropped. Is there a way around this or is it absolutely necessary to drop the subframe?

you might be able to get it out by removing the steering rack and exhaust system, but that's harder than dropping the subframe. you need to spray paint the ears of the subframe; that will give you reference marks so you can get the subframe exactly where it was. and an alignment is still a good idea afterwards. loosen the 2 front subframe bolts but don't take them all the way out. you just need to dangle the back of the subframe enough to get the bar out.
