I have an older Prius, and I would like to upgrade it a bit. I'm a bit of a computer geek, and don't know too much about cars. I want to race it against my friend's Bonneville (1997), so I was thinking about replacing some of the cooling fans on the engine, and the fans that are used for A/C intake (with noctuas maybe). I would also like to increase the top speed and acceleration of the car. Does anyone here know how to get such improvements?

What kind of racing? Start by inflating the tires to max sidewall pressure. A set of racing slicks would be a big improvement.

Theoretically it's possible to bag some vehicles with a Prius, but only if the intended vehicle has a VSS limiter that's less than your G2---whatever that is, and then ONLY if you can reel them in before you run out of uncluttered road, or get caught by LEO.
We're talking about three-digit speeds here, over a pretty lengthy course - and I'm still thinking that the 97 Pontiac will tear you a new one even if you sneak out one of it's spark plugs.
As Mr. Eastwood would be wont to say......"A man's got to know his limitations!"

Now.....if you have a few gigabucks in the bank?
    Sure.
It can BE done, but somebody with those kind of bucks usually finds better things to do with them.
Besides.....the other 2,941,999 people that live in your state have this daffy idea that the roads ought to be safe for them to travel on too....so you'll have to go somewhere where other people aren't.

There are places like that in Utah to be sure, but I'm thinking that an afternoon at your favorite watering hole might be more profitably spent-----if you're old enough!;)

    Good Luck.

Try a mountain road, you will win in the curves.

Thanks for your replies, but my friend says he has better corners. My Prius is higher than his Bonneville (3.8L v6), and we were thinking of the salt flats to do such a race.
