Had to do this over the weekend. Not too hard to do. Follow the tutorial from Luscious garage to get the light out. Toyota Prius: How to Replace the HID Ballast/Computer/ECU - PriusDIY.com also has a tutorial with photos for removing the headlight and replacing he ballast. I did not want to disassemble the wiring, so I used the instructions that came with a replacement light assembly instead.

Remove the connectors. Remove the headlight adjuster - back screw out until it disengages and rotate the housing counter clockwise to remove. Keep an eye on the o-ring so it doesn't get lost. Unscrew the ballast from the bottom of the light - 4 Phillips screws. Unplug the white wire going to the large round cover that covers the bulb on the back of the assembly. image.jpeg Remove the cover and set aside. Rotate the silver connector off the back of the bulb and guide it to the R side of the light past the adjuster. It is a tight fit, but it will come out. Reassembly is just the opposite of this.

Do not tighten the adjuster screw all the way down, as your light will be way too low. It is an 8mm nylon slotted hex head that is very hard to adjust once it is on the car, unless you have very small hands and even tinier tools.
