My Multi Function Display screen in the middle is not responding. Please advise if I could upgrade my 4 Button Multi Function Display (MFD) 86110-47081 in Prius T3 with the 7 Button MFD 86110-47260 2008?
I would like to connect with original GPS Toyota Prius DVD device and rear view camera. I have found that my MFD is connected with 3 connections at the back (not 4).
    Is this “mission impossible” ?
Thanks in advance for the help.

found it, '2009 mfd constant reboot'. but he was hoping to replace a bad 7 with a 4. no go. i don't know if it would work the opposite way, but you can call todd at @TampaPrius.com as fred did, for expert info.

I do not believe the 4-button and 7-button MFD units are compatible.

In addition, adding the GPS and back-up camera are not a simple remove and replace operation, as the non-GPS model does not have the necessary wiring looms, so they all need to be procured and then installed. In addition you need to procure the additional hardware to install the GPS and back-up camera.

I've never heard it reported that anyone that was thinking of doing this has gone ahead and done it.

If you really want these features, look out for a nice T-Spirit and trade your current car for that one.

Why not just add a back camera and use a phone as GPS? Both are cheaper and easier although not as stealthy but way more accurate. I recently purchased a back up camera with LED for night mode on Amazon for 19.99 during a flash sale. It screws over the license plate upper bolts and gets a positive trigger for power from the reverse light bulb positive. Run the cable in and down the side to the front and clip the new mirrow over the old one assuming you don't have homelink they don't fit over those.
