Replacing the AC EVAPORATOR? Mold / Smell in the AC System

    You REALLY have to gut the dash to get to the AC unit. There's pics: it looks like a bomb went off.

    But.....have you actually looked at the drain point while running the A/C to see if water is actually coming out ?

    You usually do not have to "tear anything apart" to improve either the drainage (suck on the hose with a shop vac) or to inspect and clean the air inlet for the HVAC system. The air inlet might require some minor dis-assembly.

    But it sounds like this is another case of "My mind is already made up......." so I wish you luck.
    There is a HIGH potential for damaging other things if you really do take the evap out.

    Would love to hear if you eventually replaced the evaporator, and if it solved the issue? I have the same problem, did all the sprays from different angles. Now at the point of deciding whether to replace the evaporator or sell the car...
