    Hi everyone,
Last night I hydroplaned, and hit a curb -

The rim's toast, tire itself might be salvageable if just the seal broke, and have been to 5 tire shops and no one carries rims. They all said I'd have to go to a junkyard and get a tire like that tomorrow, or buy online and wait.

However, someone on Craigslist is selling a set of tires for a 2009 Prius. Could I replace all my tires with those and ride on them for a while? 2010 tire measurements are 195/65R15, and the 2009's are 185/65R15. Can I replace the tires with ones from a model year lower and be good?

    Thanks:

Look at the rim size, not just tire. I believe there should be some raised numbers and letters giving the size.
the 185/195 is width I believe? Some places won't mount a mixed set. But it's only millimeters.

Stay with the 3rd Gen wheel and tire size. That looks like it was a pretty hard hit. I would be concerned about the possibility of damage suspension components as well.
BTW, any 15” wheel from 2010-2015 will work. After 2011, the only difference is the color was changed from silver to black. You should be able to pick one up at just about any salvage yard.

You’re talking about rims from a 2009 with a set of used tires mounted on them… hopefully sometime more recently? Tires harden with age, some handle it better than others but nearly nothing goes 10 years without degradation.

Tires are molded with date codes. Check the ones you’re talking about buying- have them send you a photo etc.
