When you have a late model car approaching, coming around the corner at low speed it is already hard, if not impossible, to hear. This is true for most European diesels also! So the whole idea requiring EVs to make low motor noise or ding-ding is crazy.

Consider that many of the aging baby boomers are also loosing their hearing ...... where will this take us to fog horns? WHAT DID YOU SAY?

Funny. Mandated here, outlawed there. I think it's stupid myself.

    It's not exactly outlawed here.

You must be able to manually disable any horn or "vehicle approaching" noises between 11pm and 6am. The Nissan Leaf noise is always on so it is not street legal in the UK. Nissan could put in a switch so you can turn it on or off but they have chosen to disable the noise completely.

Thank God for that! We've had electric vehicles for years with no indicated reports of more people being hit by them. Belling the hybird/ev was a solution for a problem that doesn't exist!
