Hello all. My 2007 Touring Prius hybrid battery feedback is starting to concern me a bit. I am noticing that it is discharging more easily it seems. It isn't recharging quickly, just steadily, but I am concerned about the fact that it is getting more drained than usual. It has been extremely hot lately, and I don't know if that has anything to do with it or if it's just hard on an 10+ year old battery? I have only seen it get so discharged that it goes into the purple bars once, until that happened twice in a week recently.

So I am thinking I should be locating reputable options for replacement just in case. I like the local dealership, Toyota of Naperville, which quoted about $2791. However, I am wondering if anyone knows of any other options that might be cheaper for a new battery? This is a 2007 with only 90K miles. The other problem it has is the fan (for the cabin, not the battery) - which is not working intermittently. Any ideas? Maybe just a short?

Thanks in advance for input and recommendations.

It's normal for the battery to work harder in hot weather and deplete faster. That doesn't mean it's getting ready to fail.

As for the blower fan, there might be a problem with the fan or the controller. You can try replacing the fan first and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't fix the problem, then you would have to replace the controller. My guess is actually the controller failing and not the fan

I love you for the feedback; I wondered about the heat aspect. It has been very, very hot. It would be awesome not to need to replace it. Is there a reliable way to have the hybrid battery checked?

There are certain apps that can help with that. You would need a bluetooth dongle that connects to your phone and then you run the app. That'll give you an idea of the health of your car.

Others will probably ring in with that information. I don't use the apps but many people here use it and it's suppose to be really good.

I've seen mixed reviews about battery conditioning on Priuschat, but I have thought about it since I have two older Prii.

Go for the Prolong equipment ;).

2 Prii makes the economics very favorable :).

And once the harness is installed, the equipment makes the process easy(y).

Any suggested links? My usual work on the cars extends only to changing cabin and air filters, airing tires, etc. Therefore, I have been a bit squeamish about trying something like this.

I might try that. I could see what the dealership would charge. I wish I knew if there were any good hybrid shops around here. Surely there are in this area - Chicago and suburbs.

I absolutely LOVE Gen II Prii.
