That's insane. For what reason and what were the parameters that stated issues failed for!!?? To make the dealership money is why!!!

I'd complain to corporate. Attache posted service paperwork and see what they do for you.

When you say complain to cooperate is there a website/email you can suggest? Thanks.

I've only got 10,000 miles on our Prius, but I'll be watching for this when I get to 30,000 miles. IMHO, the word "fail" simply means the work wasn't done, but is a poor choice designed solely to scare customers. This is low even for a dealer and one has to wonder how many folks get taken advantage of by this place, near as I can tell none of these are in the Maintenance Guide. I know dealers often recommend injector cleaning (rather than suggesting trying a can of cleaner first), but usually only if the customer complains about poor performance. I don't know that complaining to Toyota will get you anywhere, but you never know. There is a "Contact Us" link on the Toyota website, but here's a direct link to their email:

LOL! You had me going for a moment

    Welcome to PriusChat Fisher.
I do want to warn you about one annoyance in this forum: people like me will nag you to do the maintenance yourself. On the upside, there is oodles of help here if you are inclined.

    ;) All the best

The file opened fine with 'Preview,' a Macintosh OS X app. The file downloaded to my hard drive rather than opening in-line. I think this is expected behavior for pdf files from this forum.

Yeah. Sorry...should not assumed that everyone (or anyone) on this board besides me is using Windows.

I got it open by right click and open in new window. Thanks all.I'd try for another dealer if that is an option.

If it isn't an option, just make sure you stay informed and when in doubt, just say "No" (as long as it's not a safety issue) and ask here. My old Pontiac dealer also recommended stuff like that, especially the injector cleaning, but a can of cleaner every few tanks did the trick. My van was prone to injector problems, so I can't fault them for recommending they be cleaned. However, I believe a "responsible" dealer would have suggested trying a can of cleaner first. Had they done that, I haven't been prone to keep taking my van there, so they lost business as a result.

Is Apple and Prius one mind set? If so, I will have to run out and by a MacBook!

Given that Techstream requires Windows, I'd say Microsoft is OK for now.

Are you talking about that version of Windows that MS refuses to support ? ;)

A better example would be entune, which IIRC is based on MS software. For now, anyway. I sure hope Toyota ditches that garbage for either Apple, or even better, QNX.

Hey, I wouldn't care if Entune ran on FORTRAN and COBOL as long as it friggin worked.

Last I checked, the majority of government, business (including autos), medical, university, science and web based Servers run Windows, Unix and Linux. Consumer based mobile devices are dominated by Android and Apple, with Windows lagging far behind. The choice of hardware and software is more about one's priority as it relates to compatibility, capability and convenience.
