Source: Apple Watch worn by Khashoggi may have transmitted evidence of his death, Turkish paper reports - CNN Khashoggi turned on the recording function of his Apple Watch before walking into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, according to Sabah newspaper. The moments of his "interrogation, torture and killing were audio recorded and sent to both his phone and to iCloud," the pro-government, privately owned newspaper paper reported. The Turkish newspaper said conversations of the men involved in the reported assassination were recorded. Bob Wilson
Rather good luck for the Turkey government, they don't have to reveal their security devices that they had in place, instead, the watch recorded to his cloud and now we have a live version of the event. The US State department was given all the information by the Turkish government last Saturday, a week ago, but unfortunately, the US government still denies any knowledge, well, one member of the government.
Rather convenient, huh? Either the Saudis have even more inept protocols with electronic devices than a certain US cabinet member that I'm remembering......AND they're completely inept in making humans go bye-bye.......or we're not getting the whole story just yet. Either or both are quite possible, but the Turkeys have a history with luck, truth, human rights, etc.....that make me want to tap the brakes a little bit before I starting feigning outrage. People with any passing knowledge of things like tempest, SCIFs etc would simply know enough to strip Yoggi of his electronic SWAG before going all kinetic on him. If the Sauds REALLY ARE that stoopid, then they deserve what's comming, but I just hate to see the Iranians, Rooskies and the Turkeys profit so handsomely from it. As far as the Apple Watch? Yes!!! Very first i-product that I've ever thought was nearly worth the buy-in price. If I had any real-estate in their walled-garden, I'd probably think about getting one. CAN'T WAIT for the droid version! Oh....wait.....yes I can. I'll have to, since the iwatch doesn't play nice with droids!
There are multiple droid watches out there, and some arrived before Apple's. Ditching a victim's phone is a common first step. He actually left his phone with his girlfriend.
I'm wondering what other 'wires' he may have been wearing. The presence of these will help keep the Turks from needing to disclose their own equipment in or covering the embassy.
Zactly. Doesn't that add to rather than take away from how the Turkeys know so much about what went on inside the Consulate? If the presumptive deceased dude had a 3rd gen iwatch - what are it's communications capabilities? How does it speaky to de cloud? HOW does it's owner unlock it? For that matter.....how is it that it didn't take the Saudis......say.....half a day or more to get a direct action team in country? If they Turkeys KNEW that a ht was on, what is their responsibility to the presumably now disassembled reporter------BEFORE he reached room temp (or below?) They either have enough horsepower to know what's going on inside the Consulate (AND be able to prevent evil doings) or......NOT, presumably. Ready. Fire. Aim. Oh wait....... %^$%#!
Just because it is being recorded, doesn't mean that humans are monitoring it in real time. Or that the individual humans who might be live monitoring it are fully up to date on all the many pieces and have already connected all the dots. The Saudis had been actively working him for a while, hoping to get him in-country. The foreign consulate was a backup plan. Local staff was told the previous workday to take that day off, due to official 'meetings' in the facility. Clearly, Khashoggi didn't unexpectedly walk in at a random time. He had pre-booked a meeting appointment.
There are a ton of holes in this story, this being one of the biggest and most inept. The Apple watch is unlocked with a 4 or 6 digit numeric code. It is not unlocked by fingerprint. Bluetooth wouldn't have the range to send any recording to it's paired iPhone. More likely Turkey is trying to explain how they got recordings from their own listening devices. However, they are doing so incredibly ineptly.
