And the saga continues. Returned first unit. Ordered ebay 510057 from Minnesota - the only reasonably priced vendor. Before the shipment arrived, I kept thinking 8 pounds. Why was the other seller's package 10 pounds? It was light - too light when I picked up the carton.

The answer is the unit arrived without brackets, extension box, nor cable.

Thanks for the links vvillovv. This is a simple swap if I can get a complete 100% tested unit. Will post pictures when done.

    Any time !
I found Art's writeup, mostly Gen 2 head unit diagnosis, a couple weeks ago, to add to another post.
I've only pulled one head unit and I put it right back in, so I'm not at all experienced with switching them around.
I've experience the same ebay ording confusion too.
Anyways. I'm glad the links helped and looking forward to reading a successful swap write up.

Unbelievable! Here is a warning for the swap to a 510057 when you buy with this particular eBay seller in Minnesota for under $200 + ~$44 shipping. They say the 510057 refers only to the radio - no extension box, cable harness, or brackets even when pictures show the entire kit. The item description says give us Faceplate ID and then Plug n Play, e.g. simple swap. But it also says Satellite radio ready (requires compatible satellite receiver). In messages to them, he still says bare top unit only.

While they were going to ship me the extension box and harness, the brackets were going to be omitted until I told them they are not the same as the 57011. They are going to ship me the 3 missing items without additional costs or issue a refund. If they are going to do this, why not just send me the entire kit to begin with? In prior messages, another person knew I was taking out a 57011 and putting in a 510057, so getting it incomplete was the last thing on my mind.

If this is your first ebay order mishap, I'm sorry to hear you didn't get what you saw in there ad to begin with.

Decide if you want the vendor to send out the pieces that were missing or take the refund and run.

I've been in your position at ebay several times for a few different kinds of items. Stuff happens and you never know what types of responses some vendors are going to send out. I've even had one threaten a defamation suit once. Another, was a keyboard, I got a spanish keyboard. Those use some different symbols and are not QWERT aligned like English keyboards. It' only took 5 emails and a set of pics, but the vendors support person issued a refund when finally realizing I couldn't really use the keyboard without loading a new local on my computer to match the keyboard layout.
All in all my ebay experiences have been 99% 4 or 5 star exchanges! I would have likes to give the vendor that threatened me a negative 5 and posted as much in my review.

It's done. Got the extension box, cable harness, 2 brackets, and bolts. The main unit from mid 2015 is in great shape and has only a slight scratch outside of the viewport. Got a 2023 micro SD 86271-0E075 for navigation at $5 - latest is 86271-0E076 at less than $20.

Used a $3.50 SMB female (plug) to SMB female jumper and modified piece of copper wire to connect this and the existing GPS antenna square female connector. Did the same for the XM antenna connector. Put epoxy between the connectors, wrapped copper braid (desolder wick) around, overwrap with 2" aluminum tape, and then heat shrink tubing. It would have been easier and time saving had I cut the coax off and soldered and crimped with SMB female connectors. So much for the Toyota proprietary square connectors.

It was easier to cut off the tab on the 16 pin backup camera connector and insert into the 24 pin jack flush to the left. It is secured with a zip tie and waxed twine.

All AC, heat, etc. work with the 2014 Prius v even though 2015 is a different part.

The 510057 is flatter at the top and sticks out about 1/4" at the bottom and doesn't quite match the curvature of the AC control unit. I tried without the brackets but no change as the bottom pushed the top of the AC control in by 2mm. I won't get the new AC control. Wife likes it, so that's that.

Not to advertise there is removable media here, I scraped the printing off the door and sanded all vertical faces with 400, 1000, and then 2000 grit papers.

Holding AUDIO while toggling driving lights 3 to 4 times gets you into diagnostics mode. APPS and lights gets into other diagnostics.

Thanks to @Kepik, @DrZap, and @gromittoo for the many helpful info and hints. It is a worthwhile upgrade when the 57011 dies.

Next thing to do is clean out EGR stuff.

Since you mentioned the nav SD than the diagnostics, I had to try in on the Gen 4 Prius 7" screen Head and it works for both Audio and Apps. I didn't find the screen for the Sensor Check unless it's buried in the pics of what I did find somewhere and just missed the option. Maybe if I try pushing the Home button to see it that one works too. :)
Thanks for that addition here that I didn't find in previous head threads I'd read.

If you see this and don't mind adding anything about the nav SD,
There's still a lot of mis info about what works and what doesn't work in the various head units.

Like, how you made sure the SD you got worked in your headunit.
    The SD test?
    Anything else?
I"ll be searching those part #'s you posted and hoping they match what I've got,
the make, model and version should show up in one of the pics I just took
and will post below after I process them

Function Check/Setting > System Sensors Check will get you
    GPS,
SPD which actually counts pulses when you override your nav speed lock, otherwise 0. Speed alternates between 0 and 1 km/h
    other sensors

The diagnostics pages look the same.

To exit the diagnostic mode, you can power down the car,
or long press the head unit power button and then run the other diagnostics or drive away.

After all these years, I have finally started to listen to the subchannels of HD Radio stations. Then again, I am the not the primary driver.

Nice write up. I’m tempted to do this, having only recently replaced the 57011 and extension box with newer build/no solder cracks.
