Reverse on uphill

    Presumably the engine is running in a low torque-high RPM regime under these conditions to minimize the amount of forward propulsion.

    Since reverse is limited to low speeds, MG2 can only accept a small amount of power (not the full 50KW that it can above 18MPH) so the engine does not need to produce a great deal of power even if the battery has a low state of charge.
