Welp, after letting the battery cool off all night, there was no change in performance this morning. EV mode still works as normal, but that's the only time the battery will do its job.

You may have a dead cell in your 12v battery, go have it tested at a shop for free. Is it the original battery?

Any chance you're driving into strong headwinds? Many years ago, I drove through the Texas panhandle towards New Mexico and my trusty little Corolla, which usually got about 40 mpg on the highway dropped down to about 25 mpg because I was driving into very strong headwinds.

i wonder if ev mode draws electrons slowly enough to work, where normal driving might put it into protection mode

What is this EVE mode you speak of? As far as I know 2010 gen 3 does not have EV mode? Is it a plug-in? Or do you mean that in slow driving the battery-only operation? In any case, that "EV mode" should put more strain on the battery than combined ICE/EV driving, I would think. I assume there are no warning lights and/or codes? If there is a failing cell or battery not getting cooled enough wouldn't there be a code thrown?

Happened to me with no cels, and others on here. That’s why it can be frustrating when symptoms like these are showing.

Gen 3 has ev mode, but only usable for short distances below 25 mph.

Call me crazy, but after another 280 miles this morning, the battery began functioning as normal. I had a half gallon left in the tank so it's only been "normal" for the last 10 miles. let's see if things go north for this tank of gas. I have not seen anything that could have caused or resolved it. I'll have the 12v tested when I get to my destination.

I don't know if its original, but it is the one that came with the vehicle when I bought it used almost 2 years ago.
