You took the dash apart? damn! Did you happen to take any pics of that process? Also, does the detector still work well when mounted that low?

From what I have read, it is supposed to use less juice. I'm close to pulling the trigger, just need to find out from Dan how the lights are when it is raining. I'm disappointed with the Prius headlights during rain (especially during the morning, once it starts becoming daylight, or other cars are around), but concerned that the whiter color might make it even worse.

thanks e/c, my concern is that night driving is really eating up my battery capacity. i would like to find headlamps that use the least amount of power, but i don't know how to read the specs.

yeah it was alittle tricky taking left side apart...no pics sorry.

the detector is center mounted on dash top high...so it has a perfectly clear signal rearward and forward...works well!

HIDs use less power overal, this has been the norm since HIDs came out....they will "surge" upon startup but then use less power after the initial surge. Standard Halogens use more when on, they do not surge though. This is why a ballast is used and takes the surge ect.

So are they still as good, if not better, than OEM lights when it's raining? Concerned the color temperature might make it more difficult to see.

Not sure about rain at night ect....what i can say is the pure whiteness is so much brighter IMO that there is simply no comparison to stock halogens....

I went with 6000k as I like the slight blueish hue....technically for the brightest you want 4300K but i think with xenonsupply you go 5000k. But i do like my 6000k!

Also using LED bulbs for parking lamps front and rear plate helps save power.....I tend to drive more at dusk then night so this helps when running parking only.

I definitely want the 6000K bulbs, as long as visibility doesn't get worse during rain/night. I'll wait with the purchase until you report back, as the stock setup isn't that great to begin with.

remember 6000k wont be as bright....but i love how they look, and you can see in my pics they are super bright. and remember when you use high beams you get the yellow tone back from the high halogens. actually does a great job.

I might be heading down to syracuse in november sometime, ill have to check out your Pip!

I never use high beams for driving (only to signal other people), so that won't be an issue.

Assuming the Prius isn't hiding in the corner of my garage (lots of snow here), definitely will have to meet!

    Hey Dan,

    Thanks for your updates.

I'm about to pull the trigger on the HID lights from xenonsupply. However, do I need to purchase the $20 Accessory Relay Wiring Harness as well? Do I need that for a complete install?

    Thank You

Grodnyc- I know your ? wasn't directed at me, but I figured I'd answer. You do not NEED the harness, however many feel it is a better solution to ovoid any possibility of overheating the stock headlamp wiring. The kit comes with everything you need to hook it up to your stock wiring, however some people have reported not getting the correct plugs on the end of the kit's harness (h11 plugs?). Mine came with them, but those who didnt called XS and they sent them free of charge.

    Hey Rockerdan,
Great stuff! I got 18x7 wheels +48 offset and my car is lowered. Should I go with 10mm or 15mm spacers for the front? Your input is greatly appreciated. TIA.

Still one of the best threads on this forum.
I decide to do the spacers, followed your link to ebay and put 2012 prius in and it says it is not compatible? 5x100 right?
Also, I love your blue parking lights but was curious if you have been pulled over for them? I'm in Oregon and I know there not legal, but with headlights on I'm not sure they would really care. Have the HIDs on there way.
