I'm driving a 2010 Prius Gen3 and love that there is enough space in the back for my golden retriever dog. She's kind of medium-largish size. How is the Prius C's rear area? (Not the back seats, rather the area under the hatch). Do you think it can do as a dog carrier like the GenIII? I usually only haul the dog for 20 minutes at a time.

oooh no I don't think you could fit a dog kennel there. I have a pit bull mix (60 pounds) and I don't think her kennel would fit in there. I'll take some measurements later though.

If you fold the seats back I don't think you'd have a problem.

But then again I usually just let my dog loose in the back seat. I get an occasional sloppy lick on my neck but that's just part of the fun.

You might be better off having the dog pull the car. More cargo space outside the car and also should help you improve your gas mileage.
