I have the plugs stored in a plastic bag; obviously, the dealer did not not install them when preparing the car for delivery. I also look forwards to knowing what they do.

Yes, the ones I saw were like that. What are they for?

they go in the bottom of the rocker panels on each side of the car. They just snap into place. I was hoping that jamarimutt would have look at his car and tell me if they were installed there or not.

    Frank:

I have two large plugs in a sealed plastic bag. I don't know what the plugs are for or what they are suppoosed to prevent.

These are "body plugs." They plug two holes in the underside of the body. The holes are there to provide a tie-down point when flat-bad transporting the vehicle, like when new or otherwise. They are left out until dealer prep so they don't get lost.

It depends on the method used to tie the vehicle down for transportation, too. In the UK, where cars are required to be secured by their wheels to the transporter, the rubber plugs don't get used (the push-outs for the tie-down points don't get pushed out). But it's easier to supply every car with the plugs than to keep track of which ones need it and which don't.

Where exactly are these two holes so that I can try to plug them myself?

Has a diagram showing where they go.

I don't know if it's here, but I had posted it over on the Yahoo 2-G Group files section in the Manuals Folder.

It's unsettling that so many prep guys around the US are slacking off. I have a bag of plugs in my glovebox, too!

Can you post a direct link to this diagram? I've been searching and have not found a picture showing the installation location for the plugs.

The spot is not hard to find. Get on your knee facing the rear wheel. Take your left hand, place your fingers just inside the pinch rail in the bottom of the car. (Pinch rail is where the nice colored part meets the rough colored part on the bottom of the car).

The plug goes in straight up; laying flat, lengthwise with the car. The lip of the plug projects out onto the bottom of the car.

    Repeat for the other side.

There are only two holes (like these) under the car. Once you find it, you'll know.
