Ran out of gas. Red triangle. Added 5 gallons.Disconnected 12v battery cable. Triangle went out. 14 miles later, it's back on.

Is it safe to drive 10 miles to mechanic of 25 to dealer or should I have it towed? Thanks

As far as I know if it starts it's safe to drive, it's not charging correctly but will run on gas, but others may know better

    welcome!
safe? only if you don't mind breaking down somewhere.

you likely need a new hybrid battery, and there's no guessing how long it will last

It's safe, go ahead and drive it to the shop.
