Sandy: 1 Prius burned, 2 smoldered

    There have been at least two, known Prius traction battery fires in the past. One in Australia four years ago (?) and another this past year. We've always known high-energy batteries and a short can lead to arcing and a melt-down. Except for one James Bond model, I'm not aware of any ordinary car designed to operate submerged in salt water. Still, Prius skeptics will spread FUD and no doubt we will hear echos of this in the future.

    Making water proof battery connection would be easy to do right?
    Its a simple sollution to this problem.

    I would deel better if thats the case when i would hit the water in a crash one day. ( not hoping to haopen )

    Not to mention, if your car gets submerged in water (salt or just plain rain water), it will be a total anyways (and receive a salvage title), so this really is a moot point IMO.
