last I heard the best way to breed world conquering viruses was to use gof research labs to get a good baseline and then leave the door open for a few weeks.

    nope, I was wrong...
I checked again and the CDC said that was a mistake, it's really better to hang a banana over a chicken in an open market.

THAT'S the current guaranteed way to produce world crippling viruses that spread through both vaccinated and #unclean populations.

I'm thinking we can do without the banana, the chicken, and the fancy lab.

Things'll gain function just fine just from being allowed to replicate by the trillions in host environments that favor the function. We can do that the old fashioned way.

One lab, without adequate safety resources, doing GOF research for a few months, vs hundreds of thousands of open markets serving several billion yet-unvaccinated people daily for years on end?

    No contest.

Those markets also get to work with far more future cross-over candidates. Simultaneously. Parallel processing.

What was that old joke "Your money or your life" ..... "well" .... "Don't rush me, I'm thinking it over" I believe it's a Jack Benny radio show line from the 1948 era

That says about all that needs to be said, doesn't it? If you think about it, it's easy to see just how many don't think about the realities of modern day life and live in a fantasy world where if you close your eyes, the problem will go away .... or is it just hiding behind the hands these days, if I can't see it, then there is no problem to sort out is there .....

I believe it was small pox that wiped out the Aztecs, will it be Covid 19 that takes out those that can't seem to see a solution when they are looking at it ..... A global cleansing in true Darwin fashion .....

I don't think you get to blame it all on the pox, BUT....you can probably still blame a lot of it on those nasty old white Europeans.
I usually associate the Guardian The Sun, and America's National Enquirer in like manner (The Sun used to have a more interesting inside page) HOWEVER...
500 years later, scientists discover what probably killed the Aztecs | Mexico | The Guardian

I'm thinking it was probably several things.

But even if it WAS smallpox....
The difference between a disease that kills roughly 30-percent of its victims and leaves many of the remainder with debilitating scars and the Vid is fairly well known outside of those addicted to panic porn.

Besides the obvious mortality and transmission rates, Covid's most talked about after effect is a loss of smell.

    Smallpox does THIS....
    upload_2021-7-29_8-36-55.jpeg

I'm thinking that anti-vaxers would probably dress up like older women, or drive to states that they do not reside in, jumping in line to get the shot if we were dealing with a disease that was half as serious.....

I did a quick Google, and found the lab has been functional since around 1957.

seems like if bananas hanging over chickens was the way to make stuff happen, we would see huge greenhouses full of bananas hanging over chickens, instead of what labs look like...

    shrug

already tried that, didn't care for it. Florida has some of the worst drivers, considering all the roads are flat and straight for miles.

ohhh, you meant the scarygraph ?

no, I wouldn't suggest Florida either, it looks like the magic shot doesn't work there.

Actually, if you put a little science behind the numbers, Florida's vaccines ARE working.
In fact, they're more effective than advertised.
    Vaccines aren't magic.
They only SEEM that way to people who are uninformed or misinformed about them.

    Sometimes?
When externalities present themselves? (i.e. extraordinarily popular state governor)
People or entities like to sorta use "data" to skew facts.

According to government funded radio, Florida may not be the "worse" state out there:

Since minorities (excluding Asians) continue to be under represented in vaccination rates, and since AL is governed by a non-threatening lady, it's easy to do a little fan-dance with people's imaginations and shift people's attention to Florida.

The shot works but Republican Governor Ron DeSantis appears to share many of your opinions and attitudes. So the current medical statistics show they are going to your place in a hurry. To put things in perspective, my casino game is craps and you and the Governor are like players who make centerfield and complex bets giving a 2-3% house advantage. In contrast, my play reduces the house advantage to ~0.5%.

No I was just wondering if you even followed the various State governments and their policies. The chart was just to keep score. BTW, good Prius friend @bisco often takes a vacation in Florida from Massachusetts whose graph looks like:

florida is scary. we used to go every winter, but idk when we will go again. orlando is full of people flying in and out all over the world, and south florida is the gateway to south america, which has just introduced a new strain

If Texas, California, and New York have MORE cases and more people, why aren't THEY scary too?
If Illinois and Pennsylvania are transposed on the propogandagraph relative to their respective populations does that mean that Illnoise has more Tucker Carlson listeners than the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?
    California WAY more than Florida?

Or...perhaps what we're seeing played out in real time is the fact that vaccines ARE effective!
However (comma!) but the random, autocratic, French Laundry "do as I say, not as I do", mask-on/mask-off government policies don't really do much more than give idiotlogues rocks to throw at each other.

because i am not going there?

cali is not as liberal as you might think. lots of unvaccinated pockets.

i still like to look at hospitalizations, but cases may become a problem with new strains.

numbers are climbing here too, due to crowded indoor venues.

u/k is taking an interesting turn, i'm following closely

    .

I don't gamble or follow politicians.. occasionally their opinion may mirror mine, but I realize that changes with the wind direction and dollars studded in their pockets.

I did look up the breakthrough numbers though.. apparently when I read 9% were breakthroughs, it was unreliable, either someone really bad at math that published that stat or given the msm inability to differentiate between .09, 9%, and .09% , I'm not surprised at all for having found all of those (lol!) numbers recently. that looks really good for the vaccination status.

hey look I said something positive for the pro jab camp. this is weird
