They do have. For 'loss of cabin pressure' and not for this.

The boxes may already be prewired and plumbed, though just having conduits and raceways in the right spots would make it easier and faster for installers to put those in.

By the numbers @tochatihu posted, the mortality is higher than typical flu, but total numbers are still lower. So more deadly depends on whether total number killed, or more likely to kill an individual. Unfortunately, I don't think we reached the stopped spreading stage yet.

CDC says seasonal influenza deaths this year are 10,000 to 25,000, which seems a very large range. I saw a Fauci interview today on this. He said flu cases etc. are likely to turn down in March. But that it was still not possible to predict Wuhan's course of infection.

Deaths from the latter now stand at about 360. We can only hope this new one continues to underperform.

how can we know deaths to infection ratio when we don't really know number of people infected?

Wuhan has absolutely not turned the corner yet. Exponential growth continues in all tracked categories.

Fatalities per total known infections cannot yet be calculated. Preliminary calculations are higher than seasonal flu and lower that SARS and MERS.

Govt. website today added a new measure.
    17238 确诊 (confirmed cases)
    21558 疑似 (suspected cases)
    2296 重症 (severe cases)
    361 死亡 (fatalities)
    475 治愈(recoveries)

Yes, this is a big part of the problem. Assays for influenza are clinically available and widespread. Further, we don’t know how many get milder symptoms and are therefore never tested for the Wuhan coronavirus. Add stigma, infected who purposefully evade surveillance, etc, and total infected could be far, far higher than “suspected” total infections.

Quite challenging as many important things will be learned retrospectively and maybe some not well at all.

True, a large number of Wuhan chickens got H5N1 and they have been culled. There really may not be enough bunny suits to go around.

Incomplete data. I think the CDC seasonal flu deaths count is actually flu and secondary pneumonia ones. There is going to be wiggle room in declaring a pneumonia death flu caused as it may have been secondary to another virus or even the primary disease, and not all victims were tested for actual initial infection.

For those interested in genomics of pathogens:

    https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/02/how-does-one-test-for-coronavirus-anyway

This 'workflow' apples to critters in general, such that if you wanted to know about different microbes and animals in a soil, use a similar process. Different primers are required, but you just look them up and buy from - a primer store.

That is nearly off topic here, but I approve of John Timmer's writing. He is not flashy but he uses the correct words.

A day or two ago US Dept of State up rated China to level 4. Travel not advised. I missed that at the time.
