    No one is proposing quarantine for virus patients, just the ones flown back into the states

    why would you just let them run off Willy nilly and infect others?

    Let's talk conspiracy here. Lackland AFB is the gateway to the Air Force. Thousands of raw recruits at any given time. There's also the permanent-party side of base with the hospital which will receive infected patients.

    So many opportunities for a breakout, with cross-contamination, trainees going thru OJT, mixed with civilian-base personel.

    Yeah, somebody knows exactly what they are doing, and my town just became the new ground zero.

    I keep wondering about the planes, specifically the Kalitta Air 747 hulls used to haul Americans home from Wuhan.

    And any other airplanes that may have been used for similar.

    What's up with them? Virii like to hang out on surfaces, and the insides of a jet represent a lot of surface area. Do these planes stay on rent for a few months while quarantined? Did anybody fumigate? Is any sort of fumigation (or other treatment) actually good enough? Did the second batch of repatriates get exposed to bugs left by the first batch? Was it even the same two airplanes?

    I get the sense that the Chinese are applying a fair amount of database smarts to infection tracking, but is anything like that happening with the folks flown back or floated back on cruise ships?

    These are reasonable questions and would be appropriate to ask about all used for repatriation flights from Wuhan, by several countries. No idea how one would obtain the info. Make inquiries of CDC Atlanta? I would assume that someone there was consulted about cleanup.

    Same post mentions cruise ships and now it appears that several are under quarantine. I'd rather be here than there.

    Only since Feb 2 have I been downloading from government ncov website daily. Should have started sooner. internet memory websites (like wayback machine) are not available here :oops:

    Anyway it lists total recoveries to date, which are currently a small fraction of total (confirmed + suspected) cases. But it is a growing fraction, so a Wilsonian extrapolation can be applied. Tentatively.

    Polynomial and exponential fits can be applied. Going forward it takes 24 or 25 days (after Feb 2) for recoveries to catch up with cases. I do not believe for a moment that this will poof out before Leap Day.
    But it is a small light of optimism to consider while we wait for all the growth categories to slow down.

    Somebody else might look at other-country cases in WHO sitreps. It seems that growth is not rapid. Surprises are always possible though....

    The trip was supposed to be to Shanghai and Beijing, but since the in laws committed to watching our kids, we were going somewhere;).

    Madrid, Valencia then Barcelona are the stops along the way(y).
