I'm dumb as a 2x4 when it comes to the x-guage option in my scan gauge.

I'd really, really like to monitor the inverter temp but I have no luck with this x-gauge option.......

Is there an x-gauge for 'dummies' somewhere?

Imagine you are talking to a child on this issue!

    Thanks

    Cheers

    Eureka!

    Now I understand the concept!!!!!!!:)

x-gauge is simply a way I can add to the existing list of 'factory available' gauges already built into the ScanGauge

Big picture: one can add to the Scangauge 'factory' available things to look at. To test things out, I wanted to add SOC to be one of the four gauges showing on my little unit (alongside the factory available Water temp, LPH and RPM).

When I'm more comfortable I'll try and promulgate a check-list how to enter things......

Bottom line, I understood I was to number the x-gauge (so I selected 1), then entered the four sets of info, then called it "SOC" and now I see my "SOC".

Now to find inverter temp codes...........

Nerfer, thank you so much for the help!!!!!

What firmware revision do you have? Some versions are incapable of reading inverter temps and thus would require an upgrade.

I bought the unit two months ago. The user manual states version 6.1 on the cover. The facility I purchased it from:
    ScanGaugeCanada.com
    shows version 4.06.
    Is mine new enough?

4.06 is the latest and greatest. So you should be able to configure any of the listed Gen II X-Gauges, including Inverter temp.

Here is the latest spreadsheet that I have from Adrian Black and others from PC:

Another good source is the Linear Logic website that also has an earlier version of this spreadsheet. Look under the Gen II tab.

There's a set of values for Gen 2 inverter temps at
    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...t-gen-ii-xgauges-scangauge-4.html#post1362323.

These are the values I received in a PDF that Linear Logic sent me after they returned my SG II to help test 4.05. They wanted me to test these values, along w/some others.
XGauge TXD RXF RXD MTH NAM Note
    Inverter Temperature – MG1 07E221C3 032300000000 4808 00090005FFC6 IT1 F
    Inverter Temperature – MG2 07E221C3 032400000000 1808 00090005FFC6 IT2 F

Sorry, I'm too lazy to put them in tabular form, but you should be able to figure it out. My values did work.

I did run into some wonkiness w/4.05 (http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...on/95208-scangauge-4-05-problems-2nd-gen.html) and haven't bothered to follow up further.

Thanks. I'll enter these numbers tomorrow morning and see what happens.....too tired to play anymore tonight:(
PS: I do get wonky characters sometimes while trying to enter codes into my x-gauge.....I think that is part of what was confusing me about the whole thing......

PS: I work in degrees C, I see these numbers are degrees F, will the Scangauge do the conversion since I have selected degrees C as me default?
    Thanks again
    Cheers

Not as far as I know. You'll need to find out the XGauge values needed to retrieve the degrees C values on the bus.

Yes, that is an issue with 4.05 and evidently not resolved in 4.06. I have not been able to determine a rhyme or reason for when it does this when adding or modifying X-Gauges. Linear Logic is supposedly working on it.

What I have to do is to reset to Default values and redo the Setup and this will clear the wonky characters. Of course you lose your trip data and have to start over each time.

If you will look in the spreadsheet there is a listing for both F and C. The differences is in the MTH parameter where they do the math conversions. Just enter the parameters for the C values.

This seems like a reasonable place to ask my x-gauge question. I got my ScanGauge from Amazon in December. I too get the wonky characters when using x-gauges. Sometimes they clear up after a couple of updates. Sometimes they don't.

But I've also noticed that when I have an x-gauge showing, the scangauge display will often flicker and then go blank. I just have to press the red button to get it back on, but that's weird, I think. If I am not watching any of the x-gauges, I do not have this problem. Does anyone know of a solution or if I am just doing something wrong?

I do not know about the flickering but for turning off, be sure you have the Setup configured correctly. You need the Fuel set up for Hybrid and the Sleep Mode changed to Com. If not the SG will shut off each time the engine shuts off.

I'm sorry, can you point me to which spreadsheet will let my Gen II ('08) Prius see those temps in C?

I've hunted hi and low  and must be having a moment here......

On a bright note I can now watch my battery SOC 'sine wave' its way around 60%.....and as an ex HCH II driver, my Cell SOC Delta is holding at 0% which puts a :D on my face!

    Thanks

    Cheers

    Mike,

My apologies. From Cwerdna's thread link I was thinking that the Gen II info would give the C values as well as the F values but it does not.

In Cwerdna's post, change the MTH value of 0009005FFC6 to 00010001FFCE. This will convert the Inverter Temp for MG1 and MG2 to degrees C.
