    Hi All!

I used to drive my Prius a lot and have recently slowed down. I was scheduled for my 30,000 maintenance at 27000 miles or 7/29 at a Toyota dealership. My Prius is currently at 25000 miles and about 20 months old. According to the maintenance manual, im not due for a 30,000 maintenance until 30000 miles or until 36 mos. I would normally just follow the manual, but Ive been getting a ton of phone calls and email reminders from the dealership that im due for a 30000 mile maintenance. I tried calling the service department at the dealership and they weren't that much of a help and told me to just come in and get the maintenance done. Long story short, my question is what is correct? Should I take my car in for the 30000 maintenance now even though its at 25000 miles and only 20 months old or should I follow the maintenance manual and wait until I get closer to 30000 miles or reach 36 months?

    Thanks in advance!

Ps. the car is running beautifully.

It really depends on when your last service was done. Go by the manual. Ours has almost 20K on the clock, and the dealers already think we have 30K on our too. I am ignoring them.

Best advice is to go by the manual that came with the car.

What was the last maintenance you had, what did the odometer read and when was it?

My last maintenance was done at 22000 miles around April or May of 2015

And it was the 25,000 mile maintenance? Assuming yes, then you'd be due for the 30,000 6 months or 5,000 miles later, whichever comes first. This is how it's outlined in the maintenance booklet.

I'd just unsubscribe from the emails (if possible), and follow the schedule. It's always distance travelled since last service, OR months, whichever comes first.

Neither. Follow the owners manual. It's either 12 months from your previous oil change or 10k miles, whichever comes first. (Ignoring the 6 months and 5k mile service interval as there is no oil change there) Not everyone fits under the ideal 36 months and 30k miles.

I don't know what you intend to get serviced but I'd change the oil after 10000 miles (or 1 year if convenient). I've gone from 24200 to 6100 miles/year. The dealer would be happy if they could get you to come in every 1000 miles. Stay on their junk mail lists as you never know when they will send something good. Just hit the delete button on the emails and say no, thank you when they call.
