Hi PC! I just got a great little 2008 gen2 with 90,000 miles on it. Quite happy with it, just a little scratched spot on the speedometer is bothering me.. I tried wiping it off and cleaning it, but it seems like it's similar to what happens with headlights. Anyone had this issue and solved it?

Get a plastic polish and follow the simple instructions. I like Mequiars Scratch X found just about anywhere that sells automotive products. If the scratch is deep enough to catch a finger nail, products like this aren't much help.

I used Scratch X on headlights with great results. My guess is they are probably very similar products marketed differently.

Yes I'm a little confused by this post as well? The image is reflected from the MFD Board below the dash to a mirror and back towards the driver? I thought that kept scratches etc. from happening, didn't it?

It is quite easy to scratch the cover that is flush with the dash, as dust settles on it and if one is not aware, can easily be scratched by using an incorrect cleaning technique.

I read recently of a guy who had the whole CM (combination meter) out to repair and noticed the clear cover was badly scratched. It was a plexi type cover and he was able to polish all the scratches out using a headlight restoration kit.
