:ROFLMAO: Yeah, they were so far ahead of their time, they actually travelled to the future, grabbed the tech from the petroleum industry that had bought it and quashed it, travelled back to the 1940's and installed them in the mini subs  you'd think they would have just brought back the plans for guided missiles eh .... no wonder they lost the war

CSS Hunley - now on display in Charleston, SC.

    Beg Pardon....
People in Charleston would quickly point out that Hunley is in NORTH Charleston.

CSS Hunley was the first......um......"successful" combat submarine if by "successful" one means that it sank an enemy ship.
Eight people perished aboard the Union ship that Hunley attacked...but submarines had (and have) a fairly steep learning curve.
CSS Hunley sank (meaning SANK, not merely submerged!) three times during her development killing a total of 21 Confederate would-be submariners - including Horace L Hunley - the craft's developer.
She had a very negligible effect on the US Civil War but a mere 50 years later a lone German U-boat (U-9) German submarine U-9 would sink three British armored cruisers – in just over an hour in the North Sea - killing over 1400 sailors and forever changing the nature of warfare.

It still is, man-made global warming. The coarse mechanism, excessive CO{2} remains the driving force: Earth's CO2 Home Page

The earth has a buiilt-in themometer, sea level:

Key Earth satellite missions tracking sea level rise include the Jason series, Copernicus Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich, and Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT), which use radar altimeters to precisely measure global sea surface height and track the acceleration of rising sea levels.

Happily, there other satellites beyond the censorship of the sociopath in Chief.

Well, excuse me for not being alarmed by seal level rise. I think we will be able to manage.

Polar bears probably think of any rise in the seal level as an unalloyed good.

Polar bears have seen sea ice wax and wane for longer than humans have existed.

It probably hasn't held their interest nearly as much as the level of seals.

No proof it's man made. And nature by itself is magnitudes worse. Anything measured in PPM is just a symptom, not a cause.

Just go back 15,000 years when temperature swings were 15 X as large as today. Was it man made then?

And the people pushing it aren't going to do anything to fix it, unless you think cutting down trees and burying them is going to help. Join Billy Gates of Hell then if that's the case.

When a car with pollution control is 100 times less than without, you should stop worrying about things that don't matter and start with the things that do, like deforestation, plastic pollution, overfishing, an uncontained Fukushima, 6th mass extinction, petrochemical farming, etc etc

""In a rare moment of (accidental) honesty, the Club of Rome let the mask slip and admitted their hatred of the masses:

    >In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we suggested that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. In their totality and in their interactions, these phenomena constitute a common threat which demands the solidarity of all peoples. But in designating them as the enemy, we fall into the trap about which we have already warned, namely mistaking symptoms for causes. All these dangers are caused by human intervention and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome. The real enemy then is humanity itself.

    - Alexander King & Bertrand Schneider in The First Global Revolution: A Report by the Council of the Club of Rome (1991), page 102""

    TLDR version

Which one of these major environmental problems is majority caused by... a 1/2 deg F rise in temp, a 2 inch rise in sea level, or a 150 ppm increase in CO2?

deforestation, plastic pollution, overfishing, an uncontained Fukushima, 6th mass extinction, petrochemical farming, etc etc

What are you going to do when mother nature, all by herself, drops the sea level by 450 feet, and covers the entirety of Canada and the upper 3rd of the USA in a 2 mile thick sheet of ice?

""It still is, man-made global warming""

The medieval warming period lasted 150 years. It was marked by such a significant increase in farming crop yields that it allowed a surplus of labor for construction and all the significant medieval cathedrals were built in that 150 years. Warmer temps mean more plant growth.

Now look at the 15 deg plus temperature swings, caused entirely naturally, pre 15,000 years ago, pre Younger Dryas, and tell me why we should worry about 2 deg F much less the 1/2 deg it actually is of temp change?

Actually there is in the carbon isotope ratios. Turns out that fossil fuels are mostly protected from cosmic rays that make C-14 isotopes. We also have the fossil fuel production numbers. But denial is so like the sociopath in Chief.

If you have to be an alarmist to get something done, maybe the problem isn't quite serious enough to get alarmed about.

So when BP execs cut corners and caused the largest un-recovered oil spill on record, the Gulf of Mexico BP oil spill. And Obama allowed them to sink the oil with Corexit (even more toxic than crude oil, banned everywhere except USA) making it unrecoverable, because fines are set on the amount of oil recovered. And Obama used the Coast Guard to keep the media from reporting it, and he did a photo op on a bay (no waves), since the actual Gulf shores where full of oil. And then his justice dept prosecuted ZERO BP execs for the largest environmental crime in the history of man.

And when Biden shut down the Keystone XL, which transports oil locally with magnitudes less pollution than the Persian Gulf oil he switched us to, which is shipped across the world in super tankers, the most heavily polluting vehicles ever produced by man.

And when Biden and Victoria Neuland both publicly threatened to "end" the Russian Nordstream pipeline and then it was "mysteriously" blown up causing the largest release of methane (greenhouse gas) in human history.

Are these the people that tell us our pollution controlled vehicles are the problem, that pollute 100 times less than those without controls (like super tankers and all military vehicles)?

    AND YOU BELIEVE THEM?

I live in Canada, so I can't help but welcome any type of warming whatsoever. I know it's causing the Sahara Desert to advance but there's lots of good work going on to green up those areas and make them more productive.
