Instead of selecting recline-in-place seats, Delta is mechanically reducing the amount of recline:

    I told Wilbur.
    ....and I told Orville.

If GOD had intended for humans to fly, we wouldn't have rental cars with unlimited mileage.

funny, my wife and i were just chatting about this this morning. a local talk show was doing a piece on pos: persons of size, taking up more than one seat.
one large fella claimed he purchases two tickets, and then the airline refunds one of them. i couldn't understand how that works.

I am a tall skinny guy, but several years ago I was tasked for a few years with handling airline reservations for a very obese in-law. Pretty much all the airlines have a passenger of size buy an extra seat in advance. If the flight turns out "not to be at capacity," they will later refund the price of the ticket. If a "Large" wants to show up at the gate without purchasing the extra seat in advance, they will be given the extra seat for free -- if space is available. If no extra seat IS available they may have to wait awhile until there is a flight with space.

That's how it worked a few years ago. Things change -- YMMV>
