Wouldn't work for me because I would want a Prius.

Yes, my Blizzard Pearl III has been for sale on CL for a few weeks now. Already have had offers above what I paid, but holding out. Money will go toward a 2012 plug-in or a 2011 IV with solar. Will be driving wife's gen 2 in the meantime.

Now I would go that route if possible...that's a win-win.

Bought my 2010 IV in august and got a $2500 discount. The 2011 new is about $2500 more on the lot. Since I paid $1625 in sales tax --- selling would be a big loss. Now if someone will give me 35k for my Prius --- I'm all in. Anyone?

You have to ask yourself "why is there such a demand for Prii?" Why are people willing to pay top dollar for that car? Now, ask yourself what advantage would you gain by selling yours? What else can you buy? Just about everything else on the market are ICE's, giving much less MPG than the Prius. Any money gained by selling your car would be eaten up by high gas prices.

Here is something to consider: as Toyota ramps up production of Prii with all the new models coming out, many of those new models might be 4 codes (assembled in US) versus J codes (assembled in Japan), which will lower the resale on the 4 codes slightly less than the J codes - IF, I think, you resell to a dealer (which I do because CarMax is fast and easy.) I made money on my rare J code 2007 Camry Hybrid when I traded it in for the Prius.

The question is, will Toyota assemble all Prii in Japan, as they do with the Scions, or will they farm out production to the US, as with most other Toyota models? Not to disparage the US builders, but the dealers are looking for those J codes, and they must know something.
