    Man, if any one of us tried that stunt, we'd be cooling our heels in jail for a long time, never mind being retrained so we could keep our pilot's license.

    While there must be some truth in that statement, the enforcement action is on record for two years with the clock apparently starting 2011 January 4. As a wise pilot, he will be on the lookout for big white X's painted on runway threshholds.

    I really don't know what % of deviations lead to loss of license, but the majority of them are minor (like busted altitude clearance) compared to what was reported here.
