    They are kind enough to replace the battery under warranty even if the failure is due to the owner's fault. I had a 12-V battery fail in a brand-new 2009 Corolla because I wasn't driving it regularly, and the dealer didn't even ask questions when they replaced it for free.

    That said, especially with Prius Prime, you need to have regular long trips. Moreover, do not leave the AC-charging cable plugged in for longer than overnight, which will otherwise drain the 12-V battery.
