What's sad about that? If I didn't think I'd see a few interesting opinions here I wouldn't be reading & posting.

    We always are.

Getting meaningful change out of Congress is not possible.

Ummm @jerrymildred figured that one out for his Prime in less time than you have owned your car.
Perhaps the smarter people are in Florida?:oops:

What is sad is that at one time Prius Team (Toyota US Marketing Team for Hybrids) was interested inn our opinions & followed them here.
They have since deleted their account, apparently. :(

Quite sure they are following them, here. If I were them, I would.

As I learned from engineering, the simplest and least expensive solutions are the best. My suggestions are based on aircraft design principles. The current mechanical gated shift pattern has been in use for over 15 years. In emergency situations, users revert to the familiar and learned habit.[/QUOTE]

The account is now deleted, as far as I can tell. Perhaps they were told to concentrate on the Merai since they are responsible for that too.

    Make Automatics Gated, Again?

    No, Thanks.

'Toyota Marketing' went on maternity leave, then never came back.
As marketing, they never had the ability to make changes in the cars.

I purchased a new spare tire/wheel quite a while ago; the real solution is a factory-designed spare tire/wheel WITH appropriate storage. Another solution would be long lasting, efficient, quiet, self-sealing tires. Maybe I'm asking for too much; they seem too preoccupied with adding more digital gimmicks.

I wouldn't race any of the several cars with this pattern that I have driven.

You should have bought a Gen 4 then. They all have a spare tire space. ;)

Yeah, but I hate using ANY gasoline, if possible.
My Prime Advanced is the best current compromise for me. I like having dual fuel functionality, in a proven, VERY reliable package. I don't trust the current electrical infrastructure available to me, to commit to a pure EV at this time.

Smart people in FL??! I suppose there are a couple. LOL! Apparently most of our drivers were exiled here because of their lack of driving (or any other) intelligence.

That would be nice, but I'm afraid that with current technology, those objectives are mutually exclusive unless you want something much bigger than a passenger car. But I think we are headed in the right direction with batteries, just not with the consumers who do not demand a spare.

You can always cobble something, a spare that sits in the hatch or behind front seat, but I think what we're bemoaning is the lack of a proper spare, designed to fit under the hatch (or trunk) floor, not taking over cabin space, reducing capacities, and not prone to fly around in a crash.

I'm actually starting to cave a little, with the eroding number of new cars with spares. But whenever there's a choice, I would go for the car with a spare.

A spare will fit in any Gen 4 trim except possibly the e-AWD

True. I think there's even a kit. It just won't work for the Prime.

Yeah I think with the AWD it's physically impossible, to put it under the hatch floor. Other levels, yeah: if you're heart's set on a level without spare, you can retrofit, but it isn't cheap.

My first demolition car was a 1964 Chrysler New Yorker with a push button transmission.

Maybe the answer for a spare tire is to mount it like they do on a Jeep.

Now with AWD it would be a perfect fit, and off road Prius.

A modified bicycle rack to bolt on on to? Or would that be too gaudy?

That's what I was thinking, a trailer hitch with an upright and mount for a tire and it is doable, but it is a Prius if you get my drift. We need someone good at Photoshop to do a sketch.
