I was quite surprised to find there are two Prius Prime in Alabama: Serra Toyota Decatur and Birmingham. Did someone decide 'fly-over' state people might want one too?

Regardless, I'm headed over there in an hour to 'kick the tires.' Can't commit but I am honestly surprised in a happy way.

Just got back from the test drive. The car wasn't charged so we used engine and hybrid mode the whole way. But the important dynamic cruise control worked exactly as expected.

So I left the VIN number of the 2010 Prius and odometer reading. I'll clean-up the car and offer it for sale locally too. Whoever gives me the best deal, gets a 2010 Prius, 72,600 miles, with Garmin nuvi GPS, 1.5 kW AC inverter, and receiver hitch. Although I'm not so in love with the BMW i3-REx that is spending time 'in the spa,' its 72-80 mile EV range and urban experience works.

Doesn't it seem like that's always the case? But when it's a test drive of other plug-ins some here try to say that's evidence those companies don't want to sell them.

So, will the i3 eventually also go on the chopping block if the Prime deal pans out?

It sounds like the 2010 Prius III is on the chopping block.

Yes I know hence the word "eventually" in my question.

I suspect the i3 can carry more cargo than the Prime.
I do not think Bob has finished playing with the i3 yet. Perhaps it needed a rest at the spa to prepare for his next steps
It appears he still keeps up with the old Gen 1. Does he ever part with tech?

Sales critter called this morning and told me 'the car sold but I have another one ... $35k'. Why am I not surprised!

I'm checking with Carlson Toyota in California but their web site only lists two. I'll also go by Costco later this morning and turn them on for a search.

That is probably a good idea.
I had to skip Costco because they insisted my dealer did not have my car in stock. I knew what dealer I wanted, so I dropped the Costco discount.
My dealer could not push my sale through Costco because of their crazy system, Costco wanted me to use a different dealer. Yes, my dealer is Costco certified.

I didn't speak with Diane but one of her co-workers. I'm also checking out Tarbox Toyota in RI. They are a little closer and their MSRP looks 'less bad.' Once I get a the VIN and equipment list, I'll visit my banker and we'll figure out what makes sense.

Found one in Rhode Island for a reasonable price and just put a deposit to hold it. Everything else is 'negotiable'. <GRINS>

I heard that if you take a grizzly with a muzzleloader, your hair will grow back.

I'll join ya if you want to test it.

You test drove but didn't leave any opinions. Your chart also says the i3 has a side door loader?! I'm sure this doesn't. And I test drove a tesla but the car wasn't charged.

OK last part is a joke..

Since it had no charge, I could only drive it in hybrid mode. It was Prius that drive fine. I was very happy with the dynamic cruise control, a primary requirement.
The i3 has 'suicide doors' and not "C" pillar. Very happy with loading stuff. The Prime is like a Prius which is 'OK' but nothing remarkable.

I noticed the Prime has a 'stepped floor' in the rear but I think we can handle it with pads.

NC is a flyover state also. I've checked multiple dealer inventories via their websites and my local megadealer can get one transferred from one of his other dealerships, but wants the $699 Toyoguard Platinum and $899 Protection Package packs, so it looks like I am going out of the state again for my next plug-in. Some VA and MD dealerships have advanced models around $32K, so hopefully one will come through so I can get the factory $1K rebate that ends Jan. 3.

I know a salesman/dealer in VA in the DC area that would likely work with you, especially by email & phone. PM me if interested.
