Should I buy the Toyota extended warranty?

I just bought Prius 2011 4. They offered me extended warranty for 1675...they said it was at dealer cost. I was a trading in a lemon.

Did they take advantage of me again? I have 60 days to cancel.

I can get it for $1000...really?

Yes, they did. Cancel it.

Better to waste $1000 than $1675, but honestly, you don't need an extended warranty. You would almost certainly never get back even half of what you pay for it, and most likely you would get back nothing at all.

 

I keep all my cars to 200k + miles and never purchased a extended warrenty - Fords, Honda,s etc just my opinion -

 

I am in CA. I have seen several suggestions for purchasing Toyota VSA from outside CA dealers. Does anyone has experience whether they work fine in CA ? All Toyota VSA are valid throughout 48 states, but this being CA there may be things outside contracts will not cover.

I am getting much better price (60%) if I buy a contract from Massachusetts. Is that likely to cause trouble if and when I need it ?
