Should I pay $15k for a Prius I (not ii, iii, etc.) with 55k miles?

It is so hard for me to find out much a bout a Pruis I (one). I don't know if they are bad or good or if the mpg is the same and all that. It looks okay. One owner on a lease, good carfax, from a dealer. Just looks basic. No bells and whistles. I am mostly concerned with mpg. It must have that.

I also have a 2005 with 87k for 10,500. I think it is the "base." I can't tell from the picture.

What do you think? I can pay either, but 15 is top of my budget. I don't want to pay 15 for a sub-par Prius. I can't find others in the right range right now, so please only consider those two.

    Please. Thanks.

I'd suggest you keep looking, get at least a 2 model in the gen 3.

I would say that 15K is too much for a striped Prius I. Offer them 12K and walk out if they don't accept it.

What year model is the car (2010)? What state do you live in? That makes a big difference in price.

There are only a few Prius I's around since they were not sold retail in the US. It should be a nice car if you ONLY care about the mileage.

    I'd get a newer model for 15K

I'm thinking that a G3-I (2010 "one") is going to be missing a lot of features that even I would call necessary for daily driving in 2013.
Are you sure that it's not a II?
IIRC, the 2010 I was a fleet-only car that was absolutely stripped. Many people who do not know much about Priuses make the understandable presumption that a base model is a I.

    I actually drive a fleet G3, and it's a II. A I is like a unicorn.
I've heard of them, and I think I could recognize but I've never actually seen one, and I'm sometimes dubious if they really exist.

For the money I think I'd go for a higher mileage G3 (2010-) especially if you live in a CARB state (look it up.)

    Good Luck!

Your info says that, like me, you have a 2010-II.

nothing wrong with prius I, they are simply missing a few features of the II. i think they are fleet cars IIRC, if you can live without the features, go for it.

I looked at the Carfax info and found something. There are two records of Toyota dealers buying and selling the car the past 2-3 months. Now it's for sale from a Mazda dealer. The question is why did the Toyota dealers wholesale off the car? The price is too high to take a chance on there being hidden problems.
