Show Us Your Rack!

Since I only want to put 2-3 small luggage pieces on it, I am Looking for something lighter and less intrusive fabricated preferably in stainless steel. Need to crawl under and look at those mounting points and prototype some designs before trying to fabricate the stainless, which is no fun. Again thanks for info.

Hi. I have a 2010 Prius, and need a roof rack for the occasional trip where I need a roof bag. Possible trips with a kayak. Are the whispbars permanent? I am really not sure what to look for in a roof rack, but permanent seems to sound better to me. Thanks, Robin

 

I have the Thule clamp on system, had Yakima before that. I hate to say it but the Yakima was junk compared to the Thule system. I wouldn't bother with permanent unless you have some super unique carrying needs. The Thule system is fantastic. I wouldn't look at anything else.

 

Hi brook. No impact on gas mileage at all. Bolted to the rack using stainless bolts/screws, nuts, and washers. Yes, I adjusted the rack so the the hatch could open.

 

Thanks for the quick reply! I didn't realize the cargo carrier was adjustable. About how much leeway do you have in the throw?

What's your mileage with the Sherpa? We have a Thule hitch rack but need more stability for a cross country road trip. Stuffing them inside is getting super frustrating. Thanks for any info!

Here's my 2014 with Curt hitch and Thule 990. I just installed it this afternoon.

Can someone verify the receiver height on my car? Is it supposed to have that much gap between the top of the receiver and the plastic panel? (see third & fourth picture). The rack looks like it's sagging, but it's really the driveway angle.
