2017 prius v wagon. Right when the gas engine kicks in at slight acceleration (doesnt matter the speed of vehicle) I have a bad shutter, kind of feels like a miss. It only happens when warmed up. I replaced the egr valve and cooler. I removed the intake and cleaned it. Replaced the pcv valve and plugs. Vehicle has 174k miles on it.

No not that I've noticed. It went down a little bit since I refilled the system after replacing the egr, but I just figured there was a little air somewhere.

How recently did you do the cleaning? And how did things look, the Exhaust Gas Recirculation passages in the intake for example?

I just cleaned it this morning. They were pretty bad. I got a lot of carbon out of it. I used a brush kit designed for tubes to clean in the egr port. But overall the intake ports looked horrible. On the head and intake. It's the worst I've ever seen on an engine.

Leak down test would determine if it’s head gasket.

Do you think it will hurt to drive it until I have time to do the test?

Can’t really answer. In your shoes I’d minimize use of the car and get leak down test soon. If there’s enough of a coolant leak (through head gasket into cylinder) there’s a risk of hydro lock: piston tries to come up, can’t compress the liquid, bends or breaks.

I am about to do my EGR too. Can you tell me more about the brush kit that you mentioned?

What I found to work well, for the small Exhaust Gas Recirculation passages on the intake manifold, was a nylon bristle brush designed for cleaning stainless steel drinking straws. Start it in, add a squirt of brake or carb cleaner, work it.

I also picked up a variety pack of similar brushes at an automotive supply place, think they were described for cleaning AC lines or something.

A grabber tool with a scrap of rag in the jaws is good too.

Leak test pasted 100% on all cylinders. Do you have any other ideas?

Hopefully your head gaskets ok then, and the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (plus intake manifold) cleaning will help.

    Is the shudder gone?

    No. I'm thinking new intake?

If current intake is fully cleaned I don’t think that would help.
