I don't want my doors dented by someone opening a car door. Does Toyota offer side moulding strips?

They're available through most dealers and eBay as well.

There is also a thread here on priuschat about RAV4 side mouldings fitting the Prius hatchback.

    Edit: Here's the thread.

Lol, then there is this alternative. Saw this on a Ford Fusion in a parking lot:

It's a pool noodle with a rope threaded through the middle and tied to the side mirror and the rear door handle. When I first saw it, I thought Wth? Had to circle around and see it again to be sure what I was seeing, then snapped the pic. :D

It looks like the rope should be longer to allow the noodle to hang down lower along the midsection of the car.

I've yet to see anything I like better than the previous generation RAV4 moldings :):

I think my dealer is being lazy. They put body side moldings on my 2011 Prius III, but when I bought my 2013, they claimed that Toyota didn't offer that anymore.

Not being lazy. Toyota doesn't formally offer them. There is no Toyota produced OEM offering. There are aftermarket offerings, that some dealers will be willing to order and install for you, but Toyota themselves does not offer an official OEM side molding.

When I started asking around, I found this out. Some dealerships are willing to go outside official Toyota offerings and obtain the aftermarked moldings. But if you go to Toyota's website and look at official Toyota Prius Accessories there are no side moldings offered.

I don't disagree -- I should have threatened to buy aftermarket and put them on myself. When I told them I could buy OEM fog lights for $xxx (I forget the price), they offered to install them on my vehicle for the same price.

Now, I told them I wanted bumper protection - the same type that I had on my 2011 (heavy duty black). They put bumper protection on the 2013, but it was the light duty clear one with the Prius name. Like I said, I think they were being lazy, since this dealer offers PLENTY of aftermarket accessories (leather seats, backup camera mirrors, etc). I tend to believe that they were just trying to make me go away so I quit arguing with them. It might be the last time I buy from this particular dealer too.

They will be plug and play if you already have the OEM foglights installed in your Prius. The LED foglights will have the same 4 mounting tabs and H11 connector that the OEM foglight has. So long story short, you will reuse the shrouds and the wiring harness/switch from the OEM foglight kit and just replace the halogen foglights with the LED foglights.

You can apply amber or yellow colored vinyl film to the glass lens of the LED foglights to get a yellow or orangish output.

If you get them, please post your impressions of them and definitely tell us whether the cutoff is as clean as they show in the pics they show for those foglights.

Please post in my thread here, don't want to hijack this thread discussing foglights:

I got the OEM. They are purely cosmetic. I got a small ding behind the passenger door. [IMG][IMG]

I have to disagree. Imagine the damage that would of been there if the molding wasn't there. Not purely cosmetic.

So far the moldings are fine. No scratches or any on them. It's just my luck that these are on, but everything seems to be getting damaged/scratched but the moldings. If I took them off I bet there will be damage. Haha
