    ...in addition I believe Germany has had to cut back on heavy subsidies to home/business solar installations.

    Along with Chinese price pressure, Germany and all of northern Europe are poor sites for Solar power. It would be far more sensible for Europe to build Solar plants in the Sahara and ship the power north.

    Germany's solar power use jumps 50% this year


    That says germany is not cutting back on solar.
    siemens as many american solar companies are just not cost competitive.
