    Hi everyone!

I just bought this 2004 Toyota Prius with 208xxx mileage on it recently and so far I'm loving it. But I notice the car is kinda sluggish. When I said sluggish, I mean when I push the gas pedal, I feel like I'm pushing it way down but the car doesn't seem to respond. It takes so long for the car to accelerate. Is it a normal thing for Prius or is there something wrong with mine? It's my first time to own a Prius, so I'm not really familiar with the behavior of the car.

    Thanks in advance!

Are there any warning lights on? How fast are you going zero to 60?

No warning lights. I haven't driven it on a highway yet. But from a complete stop, it just seems the car takes so long to accelerate even after pushing the pedal way down. Sorry, couldn't give you much details.

however, that doesn't mean a 14 year old car with over 200k couldn't use some sprucing up.

As others commented, "sluggish" isn't much to go on. And was it like that when you bought it?

And, not to be a stickler, but this is the Prius Prime forum. You'll get more attention from Gen 2 owners if a moderator moves it to that forum.

The Gen 2 Prius (years 2004-2009) can get more sluggish than normal at high miles due to either the ICE (gas engine) needing a tune-up or the health of the traction battery (the large battery that drives the electric motors). Spend some time in the Gen 2 Forums to learn the signs of your traction battery losing its punch and tips for a tune-up for the ICE (spark plugs, EGR system). Generally, Prius owners are more concerned with loss of MPG when the ICE/Traction Battery begin losing performance, than the actual feeling of sluggishness.

He has a 2012 Plugin Prius Base trim, according to his user profile.
