Boy am I glad I live in a place where I don't have to worry about this. This is scarey stuff. I need to keep this all in mind when I go to the city. Though I have to say I have less of a problem with a city I am familiar with that one I am not. That is probably a false sense of surcurity.

Several times I've ended up with a cranky spouse, because the car won't open for her even though she has her key. This is with the car in ACC mode. So I'm skeptical about the original scenario.

Well, it has happened to me 3 times and I am not too happy with it.

Could it possibly be a defect for your car Brian? Maybe yours just needs a retweak at the dealership.

No way in heck am I going to let my dealer try and fix it. It isn't a big problem. It doesn't bother me at all. I was just woundering if anyone else had noticed the same thing.

just an FYI... i just had the opportunity to test this theory with my ex-roommate who has a fully loaded Prius and even with the fob sitting right next to the lock, an outsider still could not unlock the door. i even put the fob right up against the glass and nothing.

sounds to me that your sensors are just poorly aimed.

Its gotta be quick though. You can't let it sit for a couple of seconds to let it registor to the inside. This was way quick. Enough to let me get in and lock the door in a hurry, then they open it by the time the door even locked.
