just bought a 2007 Prius, the smart key works good as a fob and also allows me to lock and unlock via the drivers handle, but, it requires me to insert the key into the dash to start the vehicle. If I don’t there is a light on the dash that is yellow with an exclamation point that flashes when I try to start it. I tried pressing the button under the steering column with no change also replaced the key fob battery with no change.

There may be something wrong with the sks receiver in the center console. You'll have to remove the cup holders (back part of center console) for the back seats to access the sks receiver.
