Does anyone have instructions for how to program a new smart key for a 2013 Prius v? I lost one and want to replace it and not have to pay hundreds more for the programing. Thanks

    welcome!
i can't say for sure, but there are threads here on programming a brand new fob purchased on ebay.

check the one by @usnavystgc i think. look for the term 'chicken dance'.

another alternative is a good locksmith.

    all the best!(y)

Your best bet on a prius v is to call around to good locksmiths for prices. Be sure to specify your newer year, as 2009 Prius fobs and earlier were easier. On the newer cars, diy takes special software, cables and usually a new fob. Even then you might be out $200 with no guarantee it will work.

The car ecu has to be configured and some indicate you have to have one working fob, so don't wait until you lose or break your current fob.

2010 NEW/Virgin fobs are pretty straightforward if you have access to Techstream software.
The real problem is when trying to do a used one. That takes more effort.

A new fob from the dealer parts department is probably around $185 retail.

You still will have the issue of needing to get the physical key cut.

Start by contacting the dealer to find out how much each service costs (you can report those costs back here if you want to share)
    - Fob
    - Programming
    - Cut physical key

Then weigh those costs against the price from locksmiths or the time/effort in accessing/purchasing minivci/Techstream.
