Nope! It should retain the data code. Try it for a week and retest it just to see (y)

Some claim wrapping the remote in foil will 'hide" the remote from the car. Then you don't have to remove the battery.

I just replaced the battery in my remote, which involved removing it for a few minutes. Works just fine with the new battery.

If you want to hide an emergency keyfob it is perhaps best to remove the battery. Use the mechanical key (or a copy) to lock/unlock the driver's door, and hold the batteryless keyfob next to the Power button to unlock the ignition. You could tape the battery to the outside of the emergency keyfob so that you could install it if you want to restore full smart function. Or maybe even remove the circuit board from the case - even if someone found the circuit board they probably wouldn't understand that it was an ignition key  .

I recommend trying a batteryless keyfob just to learn how it works. The range is really short, like touching the Power button with the correct side of the keyfob. Best to experiment at your leisure, rather than when the main keyfob goes missing.
