    "I heat up, I can’t cool down
    You got me spinnin’
    ’round and ’round
’round and ’round and ’round it goes
    Where it stops nobody knows

Every time you call my name
I heat up like a burnin’ flame
    Burnin’ flame full of desire
Kiss me baby, let the fire get higher"

Some people call me the space cowboy...

I'm pretty sure the lyrics you posted are from a Steve Miller band song, don't know the name of it though.

    How about this one.

I drive by Airports three times a day
    Synchronizing every single move
It's on the airwaves you're coming my way
Sure I don't have much to lose
    I'm a fumbled record star
They call me DJ Mini Mart
    Cause that's where I work

Everybody knows I fell afoul of fame
    And you're to blame that I'm what's-his-name
I'm setting an example - you're the one I choose
    For page two news...

That would be The Steve Miller Band's "Abracadabra"

    How about this?

And you know the sun's setting fast
And just like they say, nothing good ever lasts
Well go on now, and kiss it goodbye
But hold on to your lover, 'cause your heart's bound to die
Go on now, and say goodbye to our town, to our town
Can't you see the sun setting down on our town, on our town, goodnight

    Our Town by Dement Iris?

    It wasn't very large
There was just enough room to cram the drums
In the corner over by the Dodge
    It was a fifty-four
    With a mashed up door
    And à cheesy little amp
With a sign on the front said
    "Fender Champ"
    And a second-hand guitar
It was a Stratocaster with a whammy bar

Is this supposed to be easy or hard?

How about something a little harder:

(This was a popular song by a Grammy winning artist who has 5 Platinum and 10 gold albums. The song received quite a bit of air play . . . and I would bet you have heard it. . . .. but have you really heard it?)

But I don't want to find myself one day
Wakin' up and lookin' at Monday
With some 'whats-her-name' left from Sunday

Abracadabra - by Steve Miller Band!

    I heat up, I can't cool down
    You got me spinnin'
    'Round and 'round
'Round and 'round and 'round it goes
    Where it stops nobody knows
Every time you call my name
I heat up like a burnin' flame
    Burnin' flame full of desire
Kiss me baby, let the fire get higher
    Abra abra cadabra
I want to reach out and grab ya
    Abra abra cadabra
    Abracadabra
You make me hot, you make me sigh
You make me laugh, you make me cry
Keep me burnin' for your love
With the touch of a velvet glove
    Abra abra cadabra
I want to reach out and grab ya
    Abra abra cadabra
    Abracadabra
I feel the magic in your caress
I feel magic when I touch your dress
Silk and satin, leather and lace
Black panties with an angel's face
I see magic in your eyes
I hear the magic in your sighs
Just when I think I'm gonna get away
I hear those words that you always say
    Abra abra cadabra
I want to reach out and grab ya
    Abra abra cadabra
    Abracadabra
Every time you call my name
I heat up like a burnin' flame
    Burnin' flame full of desire
Kiss me baby, let the fire get higher
    Yeah
    I heat up, I can't cool down
My situation goes 'round and 'round
    I heat up, I can't cool down
My situation goes 'round and 'round
    I heat up, I can't cool down
My situation goes 'round and 'round

    Tautalogically Sound! 'Round 'n Round!

kenny loggins - I believe in love

    I see faces!
    Coverin' an empty 'I'
    Empty spaces
Where there used to be a soul inside
Nothin' and no one ever gets to them
Seems the wind could blow right through them
Believin' in gods that never knew them
    I believe in love
I believe in love, I do!
    I believe I'm feelin' good
    I'm feeling love!
    (feeling love is feeling good)
    I believe in love
    Feeling love is feeling good!
    Worry!
    Climbin' up your money tree
    You've got to hide it
Monkey do what the monkey see
    You're on a one-way street and you're speedin'
Missin' the signs you should be readin'
That's the things you'll later be needin'
    I believe in love
I believe it, nobody sold me
Always knew it, nobody told me
I believe in someone to hold me
    I believe in love
I believe in love, I do!
    I believe I'm feelin' good
    I'm feeling love!
    (feeling love is feeling good)
(feeling love is feeling good, I believe in love)
    (feeling love is feeling good)
    I believe in love
(feeling love is feeling good, I believe in love)
    Feeling love is feeling good!
    (I believe in love)
    Feeling love is feeling good!
    (I believe in love)
    Oh, never be lonely!
    Sleepin' in an empty bed
Shouldn't feel it, just a place to rest my head
But I don't want to find myself one day
Wakin' up and lookin' at Monday
With some 'whats-her-name' left from Sunday
    I believe in love
I believe it, nobody sold me
Always knew it, nobody told me
I believe in someone to hold me
    I believe in love
I believe in love, I do!
    I believe I'm feelin' good
    Everybody should!
    I believe I'm feelin' good
    Believe in it
    Believe in, love!

    I've always loved those lyrics!

Ok, here's one for the under 50 crowd...

    "I walked along the avenue.
    I never thought I'd meet a girl like you;
    Meet a girl like you.
    With auburn hair and tawny eyes;
    The kind of eyes that hypnotize me through;
    Hypnotize me through."

You are correct sir! "The Joker" by Steve Miller.

BTW, what the heck is a "pompitous of love" anyway????

    The mystery deepens!

Appropo to our curent politico climate, I offer the following for your guestimation (over 50 crowd?!?):

"Can you tell me where my country lies ?"
Said the unifaun to his true love's eyes
"It lies with me !", cried the Queen of Maybe
For her merchandise, he traded in his prize."

    Artist, Album, Song???

That brings back memories of being a lifeguard in 1982. One of the other guards was named Tawny. Besides a swimmer, she ran . . . both night and day . . . she just couldn’t get away.

I Ran. A Flock of Seagulls.

    I guess that puts me firmly in the under 50 crowd? . . . 47. B)

    Good job ken.
I guess I may have to go a little more esoteric next time.

Well that one is easy with the Pepsi commercials running right now.

A Flock of Seagulls fan might be under 50, but that's still a pretty old song - 1982.
