I'll bet you the only reason she got in trouble, is because the kid was probably bragging about it to his friends...

As they say on the internet...

    ...I'd hit it. :D

...and somewhat on the same topic, even though chicks with big eyes are nuts (every chick I've known/dated with big eyes have upheld the theory nicely), I thought she was pretty hot too...

You seem to be relating to one class.
The many I was referring to is in my world. 13 years of public education (counting kindergarden). They were really pushing Suess's doctrine.
    Then UCLA and then Northwestern.
I agree the classes that I experenced were a small percent of the total classes in the world or the Universe. In the classes that I experenced a large percent of the teachers had an opinion that was best not to take exception to unless you didn't mind giving up some grade points.
I worked my way through college w/o student loans and could not afford to try to prove my point. So lacking the fiscal courage I sucked up some lame socialist ideals for a grade. The whole time hoping my fellow students could see the Profs. as the A.H.s they really were.

What would one expect in an environment where open discussin is discouraged, where disagreement with the doctrine of the administration is denigrated, where critical news reporting results in the reporter being banned from news conferences or never called on for questions, where science is painted as unproven theory.

Once you are able to do the above the people/governed have no frame of reference to judge the validity of the information being provided by the people or decisions being made by those doing the governing. There is much discussion on the Internet but keep in mind that the majority of people do not get their news from the Internet but from the likes of Fox News, or MSNBC, or CNN which are all far from unbiased. Also, the current technique of presenting opinion in a way that blurs the line with news eliminates discussion because people begin to believe that the opinion is fact. There is, in fact, little opprotunity for discussion and exchange of ideas in our current world. Disagreement is not tolerated. Too often positions are put forth as, "My way, or the highway."

That being said, in a classroom situation it is difficult to stimulate all those dormant brain cells that have been made comatose by television, video games, cellphone IM, lack of intellectual curiosity, and parents failure to have any kind of dialog with their children. Maybe we need more information on the context of the incident but at least the remarks made someone wake up a bit and turn off the tv for just a minute.

But that's just my opinion.

There are these college courses you can take called "Political Science" where you can argue to your heart's content. Until then, keep politics out of classrooms, particularly anything below the high school level...
