Speed Sensor Malfunction

    The two things are connected by pipes, so a leak in either one makes the accumulator pressure drop, and the same pump has to run to make it back up no matter what. So there isn't anything about the pump running or the accumulator pressure dropping that tells you which unit has the leak.

    Sometimes a mechanics' stethoscope will help decide which one has the leak.

    The leak is probably at one of the valves in the system, and if you're a betting sort, there's about a dozen of those in the top thing, delicate electrical ones, compared to about two in the bottom thing, dead-simple mechanical ones.
