    Hi guys,

I have a 2006 Prius with 285,000 miles on it, and I have NEVER had any problems with it, and I was VERY satisfied. Today when I woke up, I went to turn on my Prius to warm it up before we left for Christmas, and I noticed that the Speedometer, Gas Gauge, and Instrument panel did not light up. The Blinkers work, MFD works, and the Check engine light pops on and then off after I start the car. Even when my lights are on, the green light in the panel doesn't illuminate.

I have never had problems with my Prius before. Also, the Hybrid battery reads at 12.3 volts when I tested it, so it shouldn't be the problem. Also, the Hybrid battery was above half way charged when I started it.

I live in Northern Michigan, and it was -10 or -15 degrees below 0 Fahrenheit, and I read this may be the cause? Yet I am not sure. I have NEVER had this happen before, and I am afraid I'm in for a $2500 repair?

Any feedback is VERY VERY VERY Appreciated. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Now does this apply to my car? It says it applies to prius with less than 36,000 miles and I have 285,000 miles. Or does this apply no matter the mileage and date you take it in?

It says 9 years from start of service so yours is good at the dealer through 2015. Or you can look a gift horse in the mouth and pay for it by having your local garage guy it do. Your choice.

I have a Prius 2, from 2006, and the Instrument panel has been working only intermittently. Now it's really gotten bad, and does it every day. The panel goes dark, and the car won't turn off. I have to hold the button down for 4 seconds, but even then there's still some power in the Prius, because I can't lock it, and the radio and windows all still function.
    Please assist!
The extended warranty was over in 2015, but my Prius only started acting up in 2018. It's been great, so far.....but now they're wanting MAJOR dollars .

Is there a way to get Toyota to honor the extended warranty, even though it's expired? Toyota obviously KNEW this was a problem.

    thanks for any ideas....
