I seem to be in the habit now of filling it until the gas is just about ready to pour out...

My new personal "best" tank (using the "ultra-fill" tactic :D )... Just seems kind of weird doesn't it? 54 avg. to 619...

So Squiggly how much did you spill on the street. 54 you poor piker. What have the temps been on the right coast? In the high left it has been cool, but yet with out ultra fill one can do better. B) BTW like the "new' Atvar.

I feel dirtier for even having clicked on this thread. I'll wonder how many times the words "Squid made me feel dirty" have been uttered? I shudder at the thought.

BTW, congrats on the 600+ tank.

    54? Tsk tsk tsk.

And to think that I was bummed out that I couldn't get my last tank above 60. I refueled yesterday and had been fighting for the last week to get above 59.5.

The unfortunate part is that 619 miles divided by 11.666 gallons is actually only 53mpg.

By the way, I think the .666 part is almost appropriate. :p

That's the thing though, the temps over the last few weeks have been really inconsistent... We're talking a ton of rain, and somewhere around 60/48 to suddenly the next day, 80/70... Only now are the temps. slowly starting to get consistent...

Truthfully, I'd be around 57/58mpg, but I've had a lot of highway "running around" lately. That, coupled with the weather, has resulted in an appalling 54....

Then my work here is done!

Thanks, but this is my third 600+ tank... :D Just beat out my last summer's record of 615... I'm pretty sure I could have hit 650 though, maybe even a shot at 700, but I'm not going to try for those #'s unless I have a gas can in the car!

Oops, I apologize for not keeping better track of your tank records :D . I must go and confess now.

Should have said congrats on the personal record.

Excellent! And here I am, all proud of myself for having gotten 'all the way' up to 476 miles on a tank at 51.0mpg before filling up yesterday. Now I feel like an underachiever. Thanks a lot!

    :( Oh well - we try . . . .
It's my wife's car, and when she's in a temp over 80 she gets super uncomfortable. So, on goes the AC.
    Yup. We live in Arizona!
So . . . . . our mileage has been between 39 and 42. She drives 3 miles one way to work, not faster than 40 mph.
On pleasant days, (read, temp under 70) her best has been 48 or 49.
We love the car though, and we're willing to take what it gives us. . . .

not bad squid, not bad. at first i thought you bought the mid level gas (it is highlighted in red) but quick math says you got the "cheap" stuff.

still you got better than i did on my last tank. i feel handicapped though. now that i have an SO, my solo driving is down to probably 20-25% from about 75% before.

keep in mind, the more you SQUEEEEZEE it, the more you DUUUUMP into
your vapor recovery system, possibly buggering it so it can no longer
do its job. YMMV, but so may your excess HC emissions.

...you know, somewhere, in the back of my mind, I knew there was a possibilty I was going to throw something or other off.

Then I decided I really didn't care too much. :D

Uggh! That's like my worst case middle-of-winter scenario, and you live in sunny Cali!!

I take it you fill up just after the "add fuel" warning comes on?

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(DaveinOlyWA @ Jun 14 2006, 04:34 PM) </div>
Yeah, that's just the way the pic. came out, it's not really highlighted, but rather the color code for the mid-grade stuff...

I always get the "cheap" stuff...

Fast, cheap, and out of control! - a philosophy I try to live by! :D

Yeah, you need a bit more than 3 miles for it to really kick in an hit its stride so-to-speak... Funny, how even your worst is better than like 99% of cars out there! :)

    Wow, nice!

You're driving like a OCD green eco liberal now. Do you use the pulse and glide method?

    No, I shove 'n slurp! :D

lol, I sort of use the pulse and glide method... I suppose I could say, I use "Pulse 'n Glide Lite", only when I really feel like pushing my mpg's up... In all honesty, I've been running around with all sort of stuff to do after work, and really haven't placed much attention into those mpg's...
